seat belt help

hello my rear middle seat belt won't come out its stuck and ever so tight once the seat is in upright i can only just about get one finger underneath and once the seat is folded down i can get about 3 fingers under. when trying to pull out it just locks tight. even tried ever so gentle. any one else had this trouble?

Iv not had this problem but I'd think if they are that tight you could free it by taking the seat out to slacken it a bit then free it off. This video may help - it's installing a brace but there is a bit about taking the rear bench out

tried to un do the seat belt that is bolted to the car but couldn't find a torx big enough. so will try and take the seat out in the week and try and put some slack in to it. has it happened to you?

It's not a torx you need but a triple square bit. I can't remember the size but eBay has loads on at little money. It's not happened as bad as it sounds like youv had but Iv taken my interior out a fair few times and I understand how the belts work so if you take the top bench out you'll have enough slack to get the angle right to reset it

Get a set of triple square bits as the MK5 has a lot of them around be the car

It's not a torx you need but a triple square bit. I can't remember the size but eBay has loads on at little money. It's not happened as bad as it sounds like youv had but Iv taken my interior out a fair few times and I understand how the belts work so if you take the top bench out you'll have enough slack to get the angle right to reset it 

your a gent. when you mean top bench are u meaning the bit where you sit? i was thinking of taking the back of the seat off and try to tilt it so it puts slack in the belt.

Yup, the part of the seat that the middle belt is attached to. Fold the seat forwards to slacken the belt before undoing the bolt to avoid any stress on the bolt when it's released but I think you'd be better off just taking the seat out completely to reset it if it's that stuck. thanks for all your help the seat belt if finally free. video was very helpful thanks. do you think it will happen again if i put the seats down. can't understand why it happens.

It's likely to have originally happened when the seat was down and maybe jolted so the lock mechanism engaged or possibly when the seat was put back into its upright position. It's unlikely to happen again in the upright position - the belt is still locking if you pull it hard right? Safety first and all that
If it does happen again you'll know what to do to sort it out

yeah its still locking when i pull it hard. when i fold the seats down again I'm going to pull a lot of slack out and put tie a bow in to it so there is plenty of slack if it does seem to lock. thanks again
