Swapping a DV to DV+
« on: May 06, 2016, 03:57:27 pm »
My mate is pxing his leon fr tomorrow, he has a dv+ fitted.

He has said I'm welcome to it :)

Is it just a case of removing my DV rev G, removing his dV+ and swapping the two? As in a straight swap?

Why is it pain? When I swapped mine for a revg I thought it was straight forward?

I need to
remove mine,
remove his,
swap them
get both cars back to normal in an hour... doable?

Maybe because mine had never been replaced and is a rev B so original from factory so the bolts were seized  me thinks. I couldn't reach it from under the car so wheel off arch liner off and then accessed it. 45minutes

Yeah it's a pain on KO3 cars.   N75 replacement is 'fun' also.

Nice valve the DV+ though. Worth the effort  :happy2:

Would use say there is a performance gain even over a rev g. Very interested in these never heard of them either until this thread

Not a performance gain no, it seals just as well as a rev G. Improvements in throttle response and drivability are very noticable though

It's strange how it can improve throttle response and drivability so drastically. Does it reduce intake flutter?

Flutter? Are you K03 or K04?

Not strange really. If you read up on how they work and the design of them it makes sense to me.

Don't fit it as your car will blow up and then you're feckled

I ran one of these and had no issues. It's a straight swap for a stock DV. Did he buy it before or after GFB revised the design due to a flaw? They offer to send out the replacement bits if yours is one of the early, flawed designs.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Revised version has a black piston and stronger spring for anyone who would like to know the difference.

Mine has a brass piston with orange seal.  Is that the older design?   There is a secondary, smaller, piston which is black though?   What was the actual flaw?

My car feels flat with the Rev G.  Due to the nature of the solenoid operation and the mapping, the valve is either open or closed.  The DV+ lets go of the waste pressure more progressively, which consequently makes the engine feel more responsive coming back onto the throttle after a dump.
