Replaced front springs, Car now sits higher.
« on: May 09, 2016, 02:31:00 pm »
Hi, I replaced the rear springs/shocks last month with Sachs OEM R32 items and the height was about the same, I did the fronts with GTI items at the weekend along with the shocks and the front of the car now sits a good 1" inch higher than it did. It's a 2006 TDI 4Motion Sport, which is supposed to ride the same height as a GTI, so rather than trust that the eurocarparts part checker knew my TDI had sports suspension, I used the number plate of a GTI to select the correct front springs. I thought the engine would weigh about the same (that's why I didn't try ordering the R32 front springs). The ride feels very good, it's just the look that I don't like.

I quite liked the ride/feel of the OEM suspension, and even though I'm modding engine at a later date, I wanted to keep most things OEM (even if from a different/later model), which is why I didn't get aftermarket or coil-over suspension (most are a bit harder ride?). The price it's cost for the OEM Sachs kit, I could have probably afforded a decent non OEM kit...

What are my options now, without wasting too much of the money already spent? Are the H&R springs on standard shocks any good, not too harsh?

Thanks

Stu

Thanks Maxitrol, do you happen to know where I can find the figures for the different models?
