Tyre pressure warning light

I will probably answer my own question here but it's always good to get a second opinion .
I had two front tyres changed today swapped from Pirelli to Bridgestone . the tyre pressure warning light came on the way home I rang the dealer and they just told me to reset . The reason why the tyres were changed was becouse the centres on the old ones had worn due to overinflation . So has the tyre pressure light came on because the fronts were set at a higher pressure and that is why they worn on the old tyres .

Hi, you need to set them to whatever you set them at 2.4 bar shows in the petrol cap for my 18 inch wheels.

Then press and hold the set button and all done.

I set them at 36 psi which is around 2.4 bar . I was just confused why the tyre pressure light came on when there at the right pressure .
They were changed today so only explanation is that the old tyres were set when overinflated hence why they worn on the middle  .

Sorry, the pressure light will automatically illuminate when you take a wheel off and replace a tyre so you will always need to reset the light in these situations.

Oh right it wasn't on when I picked the car up it came on after 8 miles. So is there a problem with the new tyres .?

I wouldn't think so unless you have a slow leak or someone has damaged the sensor in the wheel?. Have you checked the tyre pressure and reset the warning light?. and has it illuminated again?. If so take. It back and get them to show you the valve. Some tyre shops snap the sensor and try to hide it but it's unusual to not have come on straight away after starting if it was broken.

Yes I checked the tyre pressure & reset the light haven't been out in it since so il find out if there's a problem tomorrow . Had the tyres done at main dealer so i hope they haven't damaged a sensor, but they did take a chip out the rim

Even main dealer techs damage things. I did one first time and damaged it. simple order another one but it was a sales car so didn't have to worry about a customer moaning about it. see how it goes.

What damaged the wheel?  I'd go back and make them refurbished that wheel if it were me  Hope it sorts out.
