GTI badge on tailgate
« on: June 11, 2016, 09:00:50 pm »
Does anyone have a diagram with the exact location and measurements for refitting the GTI badge on the tailgate?

I could do it by eye but I'm a perfectionist!

Hold on, I'll find it on ELSAWIN. Definitely worth investing in for the goldmine of information it gives you.

Oh, never mind, here you go! http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,4111.0.html

I'm the same! Nothing worse than when you're following a car and the badge is miles out. Stevie Wonder job.

Come on guys it's not rocket science ffs  :signLOL:

I've seen some bent up badges but if you have eye for detail it's piss easy.  :driver:

No it's not rocket science but there's nothing wrong with wanting something 100% however minor it is!

The dealers don't even get it perfect buddy as ive had to fit new badges on cars titanium ones to be precise and no measurements are given.

There are lots of things the dealers don't do right or don't care enough about to do properly. That doesn't mean we can't do them right and take pride knowing we've done it right.

I, like the OP, would want it to be done exactly right because we care about the tiny details. I think it makes a car look terrible if the badges or number plate etc aren't straight or in line. Obviously just because you don't want your badge to be exactly in spec position doesn't mean you don't care about your car, just means we're all different and want different things from our cars to satisfy us.  :drinking:

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

Chris, I didn't say I wanted it to be fitted wonky bent or anyone else should for that matter but with a good eye for detail OP can get it almost as good as and no one would be the wiser.  :drinking:

Haha, of course.

But he would know it wasn't to spec and for some people that's not good enough
