Im looking to upgrade my current 17's to 18's.
I have a couple of queries as to what tyre setup people are running in terms of running 225/40/18 or something different like 215/40/18? Am I right in thinking that the latter would give slightly more stretch over an 8J wheel? What other differences can i expect in terms of price or anything else? Is there any other sizes that are better suited to an 18" 8J wheel instead of the 215/40/18.
The reason I am looking at changing from the typical 225/40/18 size is that I would like to make sure that i will have no rubbing when I come to lower the car more... I'd say enough to get a little finger between top of the arch and top of tyre.
Another query is which tyre to go for as i know there has been the new michelin PS4 and GYEF1 Asy 3 have been released.
Is anyone running either of the above tyres or has anyone experienced both by any chance? If so, what was your verdict?
Is the PS4 much more superior? If so, why? as from a quick search I have found a £10-£15 price difference between these two tyres for 225/40/18
Is there any other contenders i should look at?
Pilot Super Sports are a out of my price margin at the price of £115 a pop. again that price is for 225/40/18 as I seem to be struggling to get prices for either tyre in 215/40/18
