Just fitted ecs dog bone mount
« on: June 21, 2016, 06:21:36 pm »
As of late I have been hating the car nothing going right at all, limp mode, loss of power etc. So today I set about tackling some issues. First off I removed the airbox just to give everything a once over and noticed the heatshield slack and a large breather pipe had popped off. Reattached pipe, checked dv, checked all hoses and fitted my new dog bone mount.

Reset the ecu as the engine management light is on and away I went for a blast. Car is pulling better still not 100% but the dog bone mount is amazing I can't believe how tight the car feels and all for £30 must be bargain of the decade for such a great part.

Also worth noting the car made me smile for the first time in months

Great stuff Kieran, just keep chipping away till it makes you smile every day :)

I'd be interested what actual ecs item this is, as they do inserts, bush kit, Ultimate Torgue Link DBM etc. I'm looking to improve things before going for more power.

It's just the insert but for £30 was a bargain. Car was meant to be going on dyno Tonight to see what's exactly wrong but a sparky has blown a fuse so no power at the garage.

@Kieran1990gti is yours a DSG? Did you have much vibration when you fitted it? As I've read reviews users get a fair bit of vibration before it settles

I'm selling a dog bone mount from Powerflex with 300 miles of use. Can't say I felt a noticeable increase in vibration while I had it fitted and I have a DSG. Just upgraded to one considered better because it appeared a good deal in the For Sale section.

@Shoduchi which one did you change yours to? Interested in the one you have for sale - I assume there's not much difference between the power flex one and the ECS one?

I fit the Superpro one to mine which made a great bit of difference. Noticed a little cabin vibration for a few days whilst it settled in and now you cant tell. Great modification though!

I changed to a Vibratechnics. I plan on replacing in the future the engine and gearbox mounts from Vibratechnics as well. I think it's still too early to replace them in a 38k miles car and those are expensive too...

I have a manual and I actually think the car runs way smoother and definitely ain't noticed any increase in vibration. I think it took 15 mins to fit on the driveway. Make sure you have ky jelly handy so it slides right in
