They all fit, just on the earlier mk5's the badge is not flush with the boot and sticks out by ~3mm.

Wicked. Mines like 2004.

How comes you guys never removed the actual silver plate, and just attached a 3d one to the current mechanism? just out of interest?

Plates? as on the actually mechanisms? or are you refering to the metal badges?

I noticed a review where some have remove the actually metal VW and just attached one one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-Golf-MK6-Black-Matt-Rear-Badge-Tail-Boot-Logo-Emblem-110mm-/272216110403?hash=item3f61583543:g:UugAAOSw14xXFOYS

But you've shown a different one to the original on your boot which is sitting flush. If you want you can pull the old one off and fit that ebay linked one on or have the one that sits higher as you pictured.

Yea I have the old style flat one which is naff and needs to be binned.

Wanting the change to the 3d style one I was just really concerned the actual black plastic mechanism etc. maybe different and not fit is all model(s)

the mk6 one has a taper. so needs to be tweaked slightly to fit. i just took away a little off the black bit around edges and it went on fine
