Rev G DV Obsolete?
« on: July 11, 2016, 01:56:43 pm »
Hi All,

Just got my 2005 MK5 GTI on the weekend and am loving it. Doing a maintenance check over so went to the dealer to get some key parts - mainly the cam follower and Diverter Valve.

I heard Revision G of the Diverter Valve is the better unit but the dealer told me they stopped issuing those and are giving me a different part number - 06H 145 710 D. Just wondering if this is as good as the Rev G DV or should I consider shopping elsewhere for it? Any tips would be appreciated - thanks!

D is the older part number, G being the newer one. They are fobbing you off, probably trying to sell off their old stock.

I'd consider upgrading to a GFB DV+ rather than a G that will split again in time, or a D that leaks

I actually have a brand new G at home. Should really get round to advertising it as I went GFB DV+

Isn't the Rev D the spring type valve and rev G went back to a better quality diaphragm?

Rev D can't split because it's a spring and not a diaphragm but some people believe it holds less boost although there's no studies to back this up.

If you're shelling out for a new one then just up the money and upgrade. If you don't care too much, opt for rev D.

I had a D, leaked boost from brand new, this was in a stage 2+ car, so guess it would be OK at standard boost. I run the GFP like Dan, much better design and will def hold all the boost you can throw at it !

D is the piston type, They do leak! Niki at R-Tech swears by the Rev G, I fitted the Rev G on 3 x TFSI's now with no issues.

The annoying thing is I had a load of work done by a mate who is a master tech at audi, gave him the part number of the Rev G, never thought to check till last week when I notice the boost was lower than expected. Turns out his parts department gave him a D as it was newer. So I had been running a D for a while !

Cheers all for the replies, I will have a look at the GFB DV+ instead. Anyone can recommend a good retailer for these?

Not to doubt you but from what I've seen, this is only hearsay. Not one study has been carried out swapping out a D for a G and measuring boost accurately across both.

You have a link to info? Genuinely interested as I've bought and fitted both and couldn't distinguish!

The last I read about those DV+ things is that they had some issues and leaked to from memory. This is going back a while. Take it they fixed what ever was wrong?
