HOSES FOR R32 BRAKE SWAP
« on: July 27, 2016, 11:59:38 am »
Just had my R32 brakes delivered, front and rear.....wow, they are heavy!!! but most of the weight seems to be the discs! Discs in very good condition and the pads seem fine, although one rear one missing.
I will clean up the fronts, re-paint and check/replace the gaskets as required and fit these for the time being, as it appears that quite a few of you have just fitted the fronts and left the rears alone with no problems over brake bias?

Think that it is probably a good idea to renew the standard brake hoses for some new Goodridge or equivalent whilst I'm there.

Been on the Goodridge site and a kit is available for the Mk5 R32 that comprises fronts and mids.
I have no idea where the mids go? or do they mean rears??

Am I correct in assuming that it is the R32 hoses that I need, or will the ones for the standard Gti do? not sure on lengths/fittings etc

Any guidance will be much appreciated  :happy2:

Certainly for back, standard hoses are the same. Saying that, you might just want to upgraded hoses as the same time, as you only want to be bleeding them once  :happy2:

Just fitted R32 brakes to my TDI, all bled up and working great.... then I purchased uprated hoses, so no telling when they'll get fitted.

Hope that helps

A factory in my country makes hoses for Goodridge and HEL, so they shouldn't be much different from each other.

I went for HEL from someone in the for sale section on here :)

I already have HEL hoses for the front Brembo 18Z 350mm conversion, they appear good quality, so thought it made sense. I believe you can get a set of 4 from eBay for £79.
