Coil Packs. Which type, and where's cheapest?
« on: August 13, 2016, 12:20:07 pm »
Think I'm now having coil pack issues, just a few weeks after having an injector sorted and thinking it was all healthy again.. :(

So, pre-empting the confirmation that a coil is bad, where's the best place to get them? TPS?

And are the R8 coils ok? I read they had a different resistance to GTI coils. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Any part numbers, general info, links etc more than welcome.

Cheers.

Got mine from Euro Car Parts to test with VCDS but in the end VW replaced them when I confirmed 2 were faulty as there as a recall.

Have you checked if yours has been recalled

Yeah, checked with VW when I bought the car 18 months ago, and was told no.

Ah shame, most people recommend the R8 coil packs but not sure they do anything performance wise really

OEM revised coil packs will perform as well as R8 coil packs, AFAIK. I'm using ATM my OEM coil packs with no issues. The R8 I bought from Awesome are stored and I'll use them when the current fail.

Yeah, order them from AKS Tuning. It's a good price and are genuine R8, not Beru R8, AFAIK.

EuroCarParts are about £29 but with the (very regular) 30% off offers that they send brings it down to about £22, which is what I've just paid for Bosch ones.
