2006 gt 1.4 twincharged misfire, help needed
« on: August 14, 2016, 11:45:14 am »
hello
im new to this forum and VWs also, I have  06 golf with 100k kms on the clock, have the car 4 months, initially the car had a very rough idle when cold and i was not happy and brought it to a VW indy, so he replaced an injector saying it was faulty and also blanked some solenoid valve on the intake manifold, car still was not right so i brought to a main dealer after not being happy with the indys service.

so their diagnosis was that the car needed a new intake manifold and solenoid valve which was replaced at a expensive cost, and also 4 plugs etc, car was smoother when driving but still rough when cold and i when idling i knew car was not 100% as i could feel the slight misfire from the car, so went back to main  dealer again and he said that 2 of the coils were not genuine and suggested replacing them which i did and at this stage im down over 2k on expenses, after these coils were done i got the  car back and still rough and got an eml light, so went back and he explained to me that most of the cars problems were masking other problems which kind of makes sense as few different fault codes came up. now with all this work done car is still not right, on friday i got it back in to the main dealer  for a last diagnostic and thier saying that its more than likely a camshaft bearing moved and would involve 10 hours labor to inspect this which in tun would cost 900 plus, so as you ca imagine my frustration at this point, my concern is do i inspect this and hope that if it is the bearing and sort it will the car be right? if the plugs are new and the coils and injector, what else could cause this misfire on cyl3 ? im down a lot of money on this and am afriad to proceed, to be honest im not in a  position to sell the car and its actually a very clean nice low mileage example but im disgusted these engine variants came with so many issues. any genuine advice appreciated
