London to Gibraltar epic...
« on: August 24, 2016, 03:23:38 pm »
Not in the Cupra, but on a push bike!

Me and 9 guys from work are Cycling from London to Gibraltar, 1800 miles, to raise money for charity.  Our aim is to raise £10,000 shared between 3 charities.  I have chosen Cancer Research Uk.

The event is to celebrate 300 years of the Corps of The Royal Engineers and the route has been planned so that we stop off at significant places in history, along the way.

We start at the Royal Albert Hall on 19th Sept (Come wave us off if you're free!) and ride to the tunnel, crossing Europe and ending at the Sapper memorial in the Town square in Gibraltar

I plan on updating this thread as we go (As best as I can given the current security threat)

Plea for help!

Many forum friends have already helped me towards reaching my target of £3333 for Cancer research.  If anyone could spare a couple of quid to donate to my just giving page it would be awesome and hugely appreciated!

So....

I have just shy of 2 weeks in the Falklands, a day or so when I return to get my things in order then we're off!

I've done a lot of pestering and raised £2000 so far, I'm  keen to get it to £3333 before the end of the ride!

Even if it's all in £2 donations!

So we launched at the Royal Albert Hall (Fitting, as it was designed and construction overseen by our Corps of Royal Engineers!)

A privelidge and great experience, such an impressive building! With the Corps band to play us off....

So London was a bit of pandemonium, with the roads and traffic!

Now safely heading across/ down  France.

I'll try and upload some pics later. We've setup a Facebook page to post updates

Search Ex Sapper Vuelta, give us a like & a share :)

Lastly any donation to our charities would be hugely appreciated!
