New ride - WARNING non Golf content!
« on: August 28, 2016, 04:57:54 pm »
Still sticking with the VW theme tho..

I moved the other half's Polo on as it was 14+ years old and starting to feel a little tired in certain areas, and as we have been lucky with the weather this year decided to go for a little "alfresco" driving.

I have owned convertibles before (Honda S2000) but this is a tad more practical as it has four seats and the whole family can enjoy it, rather than me disappearing in the Honda for a couple of hours on a Sunday morning  :driver:

Anyway back to the car, all I can say is, for the money you get a lot of car, well compared to a Golf of the same year/spec. but the roof does make my arse nip every time it gets used :scared:

some pics...

And as I can't leave anything alone for five minutes... I had the wheels off to paint the scabby looking calipers and detail the wheels inside and out.

And then fit the usual door warning LED's

Ditched the 6 disc changer in the armrest for a more up-to-date MDI

And tinted the front fogs yellow to match the Pirelli and to attempted to "man up" the front end.

The car came with get spec from the factory and put my Pirelli to shame-
2.0 TDI sport
Black leather heated seats
RNS510
High-line dash with multi function wheel
Power folding mirrors with anti dazzle glass
Dual climate control
GTI pedals and stainless dash trim
Headlight washers..etc
even the wheels on this thing are bigger than the Golf sporting 8x18"

Sorry about the soft toy in the ashtray..

And once again thanks to @Eddie-NL for his coding magic, enabling rain closing, fitting and coding cruise control plus sorting out any odd coding it may have had in the past.

Fingers crossed the roof doesn't give me any grief or it will be a panoramic sunroof model only..

Sometimes you can post at an inactive time and your post slips through the cracks!

My neighbour recently picked up an eos and I have to say that yours is a diamond in comparison!

My girlfriend is currently in the market for a new Audi a1 but after seeing this I think I'll take a look for some online!

Thanks Luke, I was being to think I had upset folk.
I think its a great motor for the money, just give it a good look over, they can have issues with leaks and the like. His one had a leak on the A pillar which was a quick fix, after reading up on the EOS forums.

After a quick check, Ireland only seems to have low spec ones for sale! Suppose I'll keep an eye out...

I'd actually love to get an s2000 for a weekend car but until I have a garage I better put that idea out of my mind!

I really liked my S2k but being 6 ft 2" I never felt it fitted me. I looked into dropping the seat which is a popular mod with them but couldn't justify the cost.

It went well and loved playing around with the rear wheel drive thing, but my god the thing would bite if you pushed ya luck..

I think my Pirelli for everyday driving is quicker and a so much easier to drive hard, unless you are a drift King with big balls.

Looks good, Nice spec, take it for a drive see what you think..
I opted for the diesel as I know how much my Golf likes to drink and didn't want the cost of running two.
If you do view, check over for leaks in the boot were the spare sits, and smell for damp..

Anything else I need to look out for?

When my neighbour got hers the parking sensors were bust and the wing mirrors had corroded similar to our white worm issue

Yeah, the bases of the mirrors are cast alloy unlike the plastic golf ones, so worth a look, but I think in time they all do it.
Check standard stuff like service history, number of owners etc.
But the roof is the most important bit, have the seals been treated with VW's krylon grease, it's £40 for a small tub of the stuff but is a must in reducing leaks and squeaks..
Drive it with roof up and down and listen for knocks, creaks and squeaks as this is a very, very expensive thing if it goes wrong..

Nice car and good spec. I've seen a few that have been modified and look really good. Just need some better rims to set it off  :happy2:

Yeah, had a look at that one a few weeks back, but my days of new wheels and lowering daily rides are passing me by  :sad1:

And I don't think my lady would be to happy..
