Steel Grey 5dr thought it was totally standard!
« on: August 31, 2016, 08:51:04 pm »
Hi all, just bought myself the above car, 56 plate, leather FSH with 85K. So far really pleased with the car but a couple things that I wanted to get done...

First replaced the pollen filter and air filter with a Pipercross filter - very easy 5-10 min job each filter. I also wanted to change the DV for a GFB DV+ which wasn't too bad and took about 45 mins all in all! The most interesting thing was during removal I discovered a forge blow off valve sitting in front the DV!!! I'll put it up for sale once I can post as I don't want it on the car...

Other future items to get done are full service (well, apart from the 2 filters I changed), HPFP cam follower and possibly do the PCB while I'm at it for peace of mind.

I'll also change the head unit and and I've been looking at the Pumpkin Android 5.1 unit on Amazon, if i do get it I'll post a full review as I've only seen the 4.4 version mentioned in other posts.

Not sure if I'm too keen on the anthracite grey alloys if I'm honest and thinking of getting them back to their diamond cut gloriousness love that look!

Anyway, just wanted to say Hi and I'll try and update this thread as and when funds and time permit - here's some quick pics that I took on the phone but will be putting better ones on after some detailing!

Just remembered to add, took the car to be re-gassed today but looks like it's something else causing the air-con not to work... Might be the compressor or sensor. Annoying to the least! Got it booked in for next Friday for a specialist too look into it. No error showing on VCDS so a bit stumped.

Gorgeous mate

Love the grey. My wife's one is grey!

I had one of those forge spacers on my DV for about a week. Took it straight off. Sounded rubbish IMO. You'll be well rid of it :happy2:

There's an air com compressor from an Audi S3 in the for sale section at the minute for £25!

I know nothing about part numbers etc and whether it would fit your car. But for £25. Holy sh*t :happy2:

They do fail, and they're almost €1,000 new from VW here in ireland :stupid:

Anyways.... Love the look of your car... I think O/E spec diamond cut will really suit the car much better :happy2:

Not sure at the moment about other mods, probably just a full service, can follower and upgraded head unit...

I certainly don't hate them but the diamond cut alloys where in my wish list... It's good that everyone likes different things though as it would be boring if we all had the same motors!!

Think it might still be for sale..

The last post on the for sale thread was over 2 weeks. Could well be gone. But you never know...

Thanks for the link, found it OK on my PC but couldn't see it on the phone app for some reason

Just had a PM though and it's sold. You snooze you lose!!!!! I'll wait to see what the garage says when it's in next Friday and take it from there. Luckily I live in the North East so it's not like I need it on all the time!!!

Sure it's nearly winter now anyway
Gives you lots of time to get it sorted. Hopefully it's just a sensor :happy2:
Regards,
Dave
