It doesn't read as anything other than an impartial and detailed review mate.  It's certainly a contender for a replacement when my OEM one eventually dies!

I don't mind a bit of extra noise but I really detest drone, and by the sounds of it, this system is free of it.

And your like looks bloody nice to boot!
Thanks mate.

You can make it even more refined with the larger 'Prestige' front silencer. I did consider this myself but I'm happy I went with the Sport silencer. Like I said, it's a really nice sound, and to me it gets better the more power you're running.

I genuinely think it's the best mod I've done. Lots of people say a remap is the best mod they've done, but I don't really class the map as a mod in the same way, as for me the map is always changing as I uprate the hardware and it's only ever facilitating a particular hardware setup. Remap a car with a bad exhaust and the resulting map will never be as good as it would be with a good exhaust. The map reflects the hardware.

As a physical upgrade it's as good as it gets. However, I may be forced to review that when it's time for a k04

I meant to say your car looks nice! Had a bit of keyboard moment there!

The prestige package sounds more like me.  Do you have to have the power valve thing?  I'm not really into all that, just a basic exhaust would do me

You're all set for captain KO4 then mate!  Got the exhaust flow, got the fuel flow.....just need the snail now  :happy2:

You can have either Prestige or Sport with or without the valve. Without the valve is a bit less money. I went for the valved version. I'm not sure how loud or quiet one of their non-valved systems is so it's probably a good idea to get a ride in a car with the setup you think you'd like to make sure.

And cheers, I'm quite happy with how it's looking now. Just need a few extra bits like R32/ed30 rear lights, xenons etc.

As for the k04, yes I'm pretty much there. I've got some mk7 Clubsport/PP (same as mk7 R) calipers to go on soon, and I need to decide on an intercooler upgrade (probably just S3) and I'll be ready. My to-do list never seems to get any smaller though!

I've just fitted an R32 style non-valved sport system with 100 cell cat to the golf (bought used from a forum member). It'd be interesting to see if it has given any performance benefit (I can't tell to be honest), but it certainly gives the exhaust sound a deeper tone. Even though this is going to be one of the louder options, I still don't think it's all that loud (but then maybe I'm biased as my other car is crazy loud!! )

@AJP - thanks mate, really appreciate you taking the time to write that up - it's invaluable.

With them being so close I'm going to have to give it a go I think.

I want something quite stock, but thinking with the GTI setup it might be a bit quieter than your R32 setup @AJP?

When you say stock, if you mean stock sounding then the bigger front silencer would probably suit you better.

My car is still a GTI by the way, it's just an R32 rear bumper and R32 'style' exhaust. It's no louder than the equivalent exhaust with the twin side exit (GTI style) to my knowledge.

You should really try and listen to a Powervalve in the flesh and decide whether you'd prefer it quiter/louder etc. What I find quiet another person might find a bit loud.

Powervalve all day long! Don't waste your money on anything else! Quality of build is the best I've seen and sounds so sweet on and off boost!

If you're going K04 I've got a one and S3 injectors and BSH engine mounts if interested PM me.

That's true. I might just pop over there and see what's what since it's so close.

Sometimes it's kinda difficult to tell with videos etc :)

Just got mine fitted @AJP:jumpmove: :jumpmove: :jumpmove:

f*cking immense to be honest, love how subtle it is off boost but comes alive on the throttle. I was really worried when choosing a system it'd sound like a vauxhall nova. Not specifically Powervalve, just had some pretty droney ones in the past.

I had nothing to worry about at all. I was pretty speechless during the test drive, the co-owner Dale (I think) was so full of knowledge, I just soaked it all in.

Thanks for the recommendation, so happy!

Excellent. They're cracking exhausts. I've yet to hear a bad word about them and expect that to remain the case!

So, this is a bit left-field, but someone's got to try out JC Weldfab in Wellingborough for a GTi exhaust!

They're a welding specialist and make some incredible stuff in there; exhausts, roll cages, intercoolers, even furniture...the quality of work is exemplary, really nice guys, and they have extensive dealings with motorsport (inc F1).

Here's the system they made for my RS:

200 cell sport cats, fully mandrel bent, exhaust valves from a Bentley.

And it sounds amazing!

I went back there for an ali undertray too, again brilliant job.

They priced up a golf GTi cat-back exhaust for me at around £600; however problem for me is mainly logistics. My wife uses the golf everyday, and JCWF will need it for a few days.

It'd be great if someone tried it out and reported back - I'm sure they wouldn't be disappointed.
