Windscreen Chip - are DIY / Halfords Kits Any Good
« on: October 11, 2016, 04:27:39 pm »
As title really. Had a chip for a while, but it's low down at wiper level on passenger side, so out of vision and not been bothering me - just need to address it before MOT time. Have invisible tape over chip, so no dirt in there.

Probably better to get done professionally do you think? Thoughts please

I'm not sure that anything Halfords will sell will produce the same standard of repair than that of the experts. Spend the money on a modest excess on your policy and let somebody else use some very expensive kit to get a result you most likely couldn't I reckon.  :happy2:

Gone but not forgotten :-)

I've used the rainX one a few times. Excellent on chips, not so much on chips with cracks tailing off from it!

Why don't you just call your insurance company and get a new one fitted? Most insurers give 2 windscreens FOC a year with no affect on NCB.

I had mine replaced after one chip and I'm glad I did because the last screen was 10 years old and the wiper marks would annoy me!
