Differences in HPFP revisions

Hey,

I'm hoping someone could help me with a dilemma. I have a very early MK5 GTI (2005, AXX) and I'm looking for a new, second-hand HPFP. I know VW's revised the pump a couple of times and I'd like to know what the differences between the revisions are and which ones will fit my car? I don't have the actual part number with me at the moment, but I'll write it down when I get home.

If anyone can shed some light on this, it'd be greatly appreciated, thanks!

The main differences are that the later ones have a bleed valve and have changed from a banjo bolt and a hard line to a rubber line with a clip. A google search of images will show you what I mean. It's the left bottom line when looking at the pump from the front of the car. The difference that's of importance to you is the change from the banjo bolt and the hard line to the rubber line with a clip as you'd need to change the line to suit as well.

^^ think the brass hose connection could be removed and the banjo bolt would fit

Ah, I see! Thank you for the reponse :)

Something else I've been wondering, if anyone knows; the reason I'm after a new HPFP is because the top solenoid sensor on my pump has broken.. I'm wondering, if I get a working HPFP, could I just replace the top sensor with the one from the new pump and leave the old pump in place? Or would the new sensor not work with the old pump?

I think the pump and sensor are matched/calibrated to each other some how.

Someone more expert than me will be along soon....

All your aggro makes the Celtemp pump shield thingy look more attractive, even at £25...

The high pressure regulator on top will work from any of the mk5 2.0t FSI GTI's as they are meant to function providing the same regulated pressures.

I have two older hpfp's...my VW tech gives them to me when they are replaced because of cam follower failure. This is an option for you to seek out an old hpfp and swap out the regulator on top with a good connector still attached. But a new one will work if not a problem for you going that route. Just need to clarify if it's banjo or bamboo on the low pressure inlet if swapping out completely...or yes, you can swap out just the regulator. There are no worries when removing it as there are no loose bits waiting to go everywhere when it is removed...it's a solid, everything attached, unit routing fuel in the high pressure chamber to the rail or the low pressure recirculation. I definitely have the pump with the banjo bolt, as I recall it being a b*** when I swapped out the cam follower when I first got the car  :fighting:.

All that's left now is to find a second hand HPFP. Found a couple on eBay, though I'm a bit sceptic getting one from there. But I might have to take that route anyway  :smiley:

I just had a look through ETKA at work & it looks like the current revision - 06F127025M is compatible on both the AXX (2005) or BWA (2006 onwards) motors.

With the supersession, there are 3 additional parts required to help fit the new pump - 06D133400A (breather valve), 06F133335A (breather valve cap) & 06F127213B (threaded union underneath).

Indeed, RON was the star in all of this!

I received the regulator about a week after he shipped it, but I only got around to doing it today, as the dealership took their sweet time to supply me with the housing connector which plugs into the regulator itself (which was broken as well).

Anyhow, for those who might be interested; the job is an easy one of course, you just have to unscrew the old regulator and screw in the new one using an adjustable wrench. I did nothing else and the car just worked as it should and performed perfectly while taking it out for a ride.

That being said, if anyone finds themselves in the same position; you can indeed swap your broken regulator with a different one, if you're capable of locating one, thus saving yourself a few hundred bucks that you'd spend on a new pump.

Again, thank you RON for going out of your way and shipping the regulator, you're a star  :drinking:
