mk5 gti wheel offset
« on: October 22, 2016, 05:54:02 pm »
I'm looking into getting some new wheels for my gti (possibly bbs sr) and if I'm honest I'm not sure on offset. I believe offset on my standard monza 2 18's are et 52? I've seen these bbs on two different websites one being et 35 one et 44. basically what one would be better and why?

Depends on width
Bbs vz are common on here and I have some myself and they are 18x8 et 44 and they fit pretty flush

Yep, got VZ myself and they're a nice fit. No rubbing 30mm down. Worth noting they're also 8" wide rather than 7.5" of the et51 Monza. Basically VZ poke about 13mm more. You could probably get away with 8" et35 if you really had to but it might rub. Close to et40-45 on an 8" wheel is ideal.

Willtheyfit.com is handy.

oh yeah I forgot to say would be 18x8 guys so yeah et44 sounds about right. I'm also sitting on vwr springs so that's about an inch lower than standard so guess would have to be a little careful of that? I'm debating between bbs sr and vz both in grey.

How do you guys get your wheels flush when running bigger brake kits lol.

I'm stuck in a dilemma where I need 15mm spacers for my et51 pescara wheels so anything lower ET would be sticking out way past the arch and look weird.
Most wheels I've looked at are et35 or around that figure.
