I assume sub frame knock
« on: October 31, 2016, 08:29:26 pm »
Hello,

There is lots of knocking sounds from the front end, when going over what I could call "Pattering" bumps, and it also makes the steering feel vague.

When the car goes for a service it is fine for about 2000 miles and then the knocking comes back. Track rod ends and ARB ends are fine, so it must be something that is tightened at the service, that comes loose when driving. And I assume the front sub frame mountings.

Also the steering will randomly feel heavy, to the point where it will not self correct when you take your hands off, to where is it very light and the car almost feels normal.

Your thoughts and experience would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, if you turn the key to the 1st potion, and with the engine and ignition off, and the Waggle the wheel.

There are loads of bumps and free play. But it comes down to when the car is serviced it does not have these, so it has to be something that is tightened maybe to not the correct torque, that then then become loose over driving.

Thanks

How often does this happen?
