I've got an alternative to the AKS stuff and yes they work pretty well.

Assume this will fit all MK5/MK6 platform with a 6MT box?

Need to get some, if so!

Dead easy mate.

Make a note of where the connections are on the cables, remove, pop out the OE bushes, pop the new ones in and reconnect.

I had the AKS kit. Added to the 2 short shifters, the shifter bushes and reducing the throw of the shifter itself it makes a big difference.

I've got the shifter plate from Alex already too, is this one at the top of the page any different? I'm guessing not  :ashamed:

Obviously VW isolated the cable bracket with rubber to stop gearbox rattles and whines being transmitted into the cabin through the cables, so I reckon there will be an increase in NVH. Probably not a lot though.   VW gearboxes are noisy, rough, rattly old things though.  They've always made really schitt gearboxes for some reason.  Even worse than Merc's manuals, and that's saying something
