Complete engine failure

Long story short, oil pressure warning came on and I can now hear a very loud knocking sound.

Took it to a VW specialist and he said he have a look at it so I left him with it, he chased me down the road and said I know what's wrong. You need a new engine.

I'm gutted, couldn't have come at a worse time. I live in Manchester where can I source an engine from.

Ebay is probably your first port of call.  Can't the garage do this on your behalf? I assume they will be fitting the engine?

I think they turned it on and it died there and then personally.

Am I limited to the golf gti engine or are all TFSI engines suitable I.e Audi s3 Leon cupra TT etc.

What do you think the ball park for a engine is, they already said £500 for fitting.

I'm seething absolutely gutted, I have only drove the car around 20 miles and only got it on the road 2 days ago.

What car is it for?

What is the original engine type in the car (AXX - BWA?)

What mileage on the dead Motor?

You should be able to source an engine without too much difficulty.
AXX are cheap. BWA middling. CDL are expensive. Really depends which one you want/need

I'm in same predicament although I knew what I was getting into when I bought it (sort of). your looking at about 1300 for a lump on ebay and theres not that many on there either.

It's the AAX, to be fair I just want the cheapest way to get it back on the road so if iaax is cheapest that's what's going in. Hopefully getting one that's done less miles than mine at 114k.

Mate that sucks big time.  Have you just brought it?  If so surly you have some sort of buyers protection.

Too many MK5 GTIs are dying prematurely due to either the oil pickup or cam chain tensioners. If I ever get another one they will be the first job on my list. I'm gutted for you mate, hope you get it sorted soon.

if you buy another engine depending on the damage of yours you should return a fair chunk of your money back breaking yours for spares.

Think I'm gonna let the garage try and source one so if it goes again I hopefully have some recourse.

I think I want to get an engine that's done less that 100k or I could be in the same predicament in 12 months.

Can anyone give a difinitive answer as to what engine codes would be a straight swap.

BWA seem to be a straight swap

Seen a CCZ from a mk6 GTI for £1300 with only 25000 miles but unsure of fitting.
Are all TFSI engines the same.
