Rcd510 fitting guide? And where to buy?

Ok so I seen a few members have fitted a rcd520, I want to do it in my gt tdi, are they easy to install? Is there a guide? I have no idea with auto electics so a guide would really help, also where do you get these units From? Also is there anything else I need to know?

Depends on your budget  Offer him £300  You'll need a decent aerial such as KINETIC

Definitely need a new Canbus Upgrade otherwise you experience battery drain with a 2004 model.  You need at least a Revision L Canbus Gateway but any 7N0 907 530 module will work fine with the MK5 Golf but will need coding with VCDS (VAGCOM).

Installation of the stereo unit is quite straightforward, make sure you got a T20 Torx screwdriver to undo the bolts of the vents and bezels. A pry tool is handy on prying the bezel off, from there it's just a matter of unplugging the Quad Lock and swapping the new unit in. You most likely need an fakra aerial adapter wire from the old stereo to the new one too.

Bear in mind the RCD510 does not come with Bluetooth as standard, you will need to purchase this separately if you want telephone functions and will require installation from under the seat to the stereo (as well the mic in the welcome light section).

If you are not bothered about DAB then the RCD 330 PLUS would be my pick for the money. Has pretty much all the connectivity you need and is plug and play, you can find it here.

You need the FAKRA aerial adapters for the FM/AM Radio (the one the stereo seller provides is for the MK6 Golf and will not fit). You can find the right adapter here (the SKAA-53A cable is the one you need for the MK5 Golf).

As mentioned earlier you need the Canbus Gateway to be updated or it will drain the battery. Once you have those two things in place then yes you can just replace the old unit with the RCD 330 PLUS and it should just work including the Bluetooth.

you can get a rns 315 for £200-£300
some come with satnav bluetooth and dab
easy swap but needs canbus change to stop battery drain but thats easy and cheep
