Bwa engine things to check @ 100k
« on: December 27, 2016, 01:41:31 pm »
Iv just brought my first vw and it's a much waited for golf gti 2007.. I absolutely love it iv had a saab 9-3 aero for the last 4 years which ended up being 413 bhp after all the time I spent on it... Being new to the engine in the gti is there anything that needs attention at the 100k mark essential maintenance or replacement of parts?
Your help is greatly appreciated

Hi mate welcome to the forum, usual things such as Cam belt and water pump then especially for these, the cam follower and diverter valve, if you search for these on here you will find easy "how to" walk through pages/vids.

Cam follower replacement, fuel filter replacement & possibly timing chain if you get a rattle on cold start

Add to the list...

PCV
Oil pick up pipe

And I'm led to believe the chain and tensioner makes more noise (chugging) on a hot engine than cold start. Noise or hiccups on a cold start might point to injectors.

Also get it up on the ramp, have a look at bushes etc.
