Called edwin may in colraine for a price to replace cam chain and tensioner looking £578 i think this a bit much. Wat do u think?

I've seen the figure £450 mentioned a few times. Yet to get a quote myself.

Cam chain or cam belt?
as far I am aware they are different items, the chain usually cost somewhat more than the belt to replace

So then I'd try and get prices for the parts from VW oor TPS then add on 4 hrs of labour plus the dreaded vat and take it from there?
Not had mine done yet so can't give you any comparison.

The genuine chain was £70 odd when I bought one last year. The tensioner is quite expensive if its genuine too! Obviously they may source cheaper parts

Its not far off a decent price. Get some quotes elsewhere. I think vwauditec in Chelmsford do it for less then £500 I believe @FrameSet got theirs done there.

I managed to get a genuine chain and tensioner for £35 off ebay  :grin: when I did it
