Long coding for ch steering module.
« on: February 20, 2017, 08:00:41 am »
Like a twonk I didn't note down the long coding on my old steering module and now I'm having difficulty resetting the heavy steering. I've tried the turning the wheel trick but it doesn't work. Can someone with a manual gti and ch module scan and give me their long coding string please?

Thanks

Have you just turned the wheel lock to lock or followed the adaptation process?

It will be the adaption process I'd say, PITA, it took me 3 times before it sorted. If you moved the slip ring then you need to re adapt

I'm getting no feedback from the steering angle sensor in the measuring block.

U need to login to the module using code 40168 and then do basic settings on 60,63 and 66. Login each time before doing basic settings. And then go for a drive and then do the full lock left, right and Straighten steering.

I do have an autoscan of the old steering module but that doesn't include the long coding for the abs does it?

you dont really need the long coding from anything, just use VCDS to log in to the module and apply basic settings on the 3 channels I mentioned earlier. :)

Is that in 16-steering wheel or 44-steering assist? When I try security code 40168 in 16 it says Controller refused the key, error 35: invalid key

I've got a power steering fault code as well.

For steering assist basic settings (done via abs) to work, there needs to be no errors in your 03 - abs module.
If there are errors in abs, the basic settings on steering assist will appear to be accepted but basic settings will not stick and warning lights on dash will remain.

The power steering fault is incorrect settings or something. The horn doesn't work either?

My intention was swapping over from an AQ module to a CH as the cruise control doesn't work with AQ [I only found this out after I bought it].

I originally swapped over from my midline [factory fitted] swcm so I could make use of the mfsw buttons I bought. I'm very tempted to say sod it to the idea of mfsw and go back to my midline swcm - at least the cruise control was working with that.

I didn't save the scan at the time but from memory I think it was this code:

01309 - Power Steering Control Module (J500)

01309 - Power Steering Control Module (J500): Implausible Signal

Possible Symptoms
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) active

Possible Causes
When found in Brake Electronics (MK60)
Incorrect Steering Aid Characteristic Setting
Incorrect Steering Aid Warning Lamp Setting
Driver Steering Recommendation (DSR) in activated in Brake Electronics but not in the Steering Aid Control Module or vice versa.

Possible Solutions
When found in Brake Electronics (MK60)
Check Brake Electronics Coding
Check Steering Aid Characteristic Setting
Check Steering Aid Warning Lamp Setting
Check Driver Steering Recommendation (DSR) Setting

Which is the correct setting for the DSR and where do I find it in the swcm?

Bloody minefield!! and I've collected 3 modules now!!!  :sad1:
