Knocking on acceleration
« on: February 26, 2017, 09:09:19 pm »
Hiya just wondered if Anyone has heard or had this problem, basically when I turn to the right and accelerate slightly harder than normal driving I get a clicking noise from the centre of the car almost gearbox area almost like a woodpecker pecking away and it only does it turning right it's perfectly quiet in straight line and turning left, I was told it's the symptoms of split cv boot I have just replaced the driver side shaft as boot was split and checked passenger boot all was fine that side and still the same noise as soon as I accelerate, the noise goes when off power/coasting and gentle driving

A split boot won't cause a clicking or knocking noise.

Sounds like the boot was split for too long and the CV joint itself needs replacing.
