RNS510 iPhone 6 Bluetooth
« on: March 05, 2017, 06:36:15 pm »
I'm back in the game with a 2009 Tiguan after several years away at Seat & Audi  :happy2:

Now the Tig has RNS510 with Bluetooth but when I try to connect it keeps saying "Your phone is not compatible" (with my iPhone 6 and the wifes iPhone 5)..

Whats the deal? Do I require a SW update or do I have to replace the BT unit with a newer one??

So after doing a little digging it looks like I require a newer BT unit! Question is, which unit do I need?

From my VW days I have a Bluetooth unit sitting in storage at home somewhere. It is the 5N0 035 730 D so will be slightly newer than yours.
Looking at the Ross-Tech website (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Telephone_Retrofitting) you can determine the features for each BT unit.

Your 5N0 035 730 A supports:
- rSAP (Remote Sim Access)
- Ross-Tech are unsure of any other features.

My 5N0 035 730 D supports:
3G = 3G / UMTS Network Support
HFP = Hands Free Profile (phone connect to car, uses car mic and speakers)
PBAP = Phone Book Access Profile
A2DP = Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (Media/Audio Files on your Phone play on your Car's Radio/Stereo
rSAP = Remote-SIM Access Profile (Phone inactive/standby, Bluetooth Module takes over all Functions

This works with iPhone and Android, and support Bluetooth Audio (music streaming). It requires a Black and White Instrument Cluster display, and doesn't work with the older red-dot cluster. I'm sure all Tiguans are the newer type.

Hope this info helps. I can dig my unit out tonight and post some photos. If you are interested let me know. No worries if you prefer to buy one from @Pashka or others.  :happy2:

Thanks mate. I now have the 7P6 unit installed and working with both of our phones. So I think I'm just going to leave it like that and do without in on the MFD  :happy2: :happy2:

You need extra gizmos to get it on the MFD... like the Polar unit.
