Walnut Blasting at R-Tech
« on: March 06, 2017, 09:30:24 pm »
Hi all

Just incase you were not in the know - i spoke to rtech today and they have confirmed the offer the service of walnut blasting of the inlet just incase anyone required this service.

Price is at £325 and you need to leave the car with them while it's done.

Hope it helps  :happy2:

That's good value, if I was closer I'd book it in now. Seems to be a bit more expensive at a few other places I've noticed.

AKS are only £25 more, which for me at least offsets the extra fuel cost of getting to Hinckley and back!

Did they say how long it would take roughly?! I'm guessing they'd need it at least half a day in reality

Its about a 2-3 hour job to be done properly.

May as well get the whole lot done.
So cleaning the inlet valves, Injector clean and reseal while its all apart. and RFD if you have the kit

Is it these guys who do it?! Or actually R-Tech themselves

It's R-Tech themselves. They've expanded to do mechanical jobs as well.

Planning a trip to rtech in the new year and wondering if it’s worth getting this done at the same time. What’s the general consensus? Car runs fine so I’m not sure if there’ll be any noticeable improvement, would I just be wasting money?

If your car is high mileage & your intending on keeping it, then I’d say it’s maintenance well done..if it was a two minute job let’s be honest we’d all be cleaning the intake valves tommorow Am without doubt

Had mine done at 116Kish.  As per Mark_DF05, mine was also not exhibiting any running or performance issues.   I noticed nothing at all after the walnut blast.

I'm not suggesting it's a waste of money, but £325 isn't exactly small change to throw at a problem which gives no tangible benefits.  I would wait personally until the injectors start to let go and then do the whole lot at once.  I think the whole carbon thing is seriously over hyped in all honesty.....and a good earner for those with compressed air and a bag of nuts.
