Spring suggestions
« on: April 24, 2017, 12:04:01 pm »
Morning all I'm currently running h&r springs on my mk6 gti they look great and the ride is fine.
But I'm having issues with speed bumps living in London it's a nightmare and I'm also getting wheel rub on the arches.
What other spring options do I have that wouldn't lower my car as much ideally a spring which drops 20 to 25mm would be better. What are my options I was thinking vwr but see @Pudding he thinks they dropped he's car 30 to 35mm

I've just fitted VWR springs with OEM dampers and I don't think it's dropped anywhere near 30 - 35mm. I'd say its more like 15 - 20mm at most.

Depends where you are referencing from.  The belly of the car or the gap between arch and tyre.

Are the st springs any good. So vwr springs lower roughly 20mm as well don't want to make the wrong decision

I've done about 1000 miles on my VWRs already and haven't hit anything yet, so I think you'll be fine with them.

No fitted to the car so I can see the gap between tyres and wheel arch.

I'm following this thread, as I'm also hoping to lower my Ed30 with the VWR springs.

Pudding did you say previously the rear of the car was slightly higher than the front with the VWR's

No mate, standard is noticeably quite a bit higher at the back.  VWR brings the back down quite nicely, as you can see in the pic above  :happy2:

I don't understand why I hear about people getting arch problems with lowering springs. I had loads of room with H&Rs. Strange.

Car's looking very nice by the way @Pudding
