no boost driving me mad!
« on: May 09, 2017, 03:57:50 pm »
Ok i had several issues when i bought the car, i have replaced the thermostat housing because it was stuck open, then the crank sensor went, car had felt slow from the start so replaced the pcv as the engine note only changed a tiny bit when i pulled the dipstick. Car still lacked boost! dv and a dv+ changed - still no boost. The car drives beautifully, starts first time and gives 35 -
38mpg on my 25 mile commute. Found the map sensor wiring had pulled out of the plug on the boost pipe so reconected that. Then all of a sudden, bam two glorious weeks of boost and great power! then it was gone again!!! i have changed the plugs and ran a cheep fault code reader even though no engine light on- no codes recorded. next is the pipes on the pcv anything i have missed? should i change the map sensor?

I have boost! The wiring to the map sensor had ripped out so i bought a new connector and removed the the sensor to clean it only to discover some Muppet had put it in upside down! The locating tab was stopping it sealing against the housing. Cleaned, re-wired and reinstalled and the boost is back.
