dont know why my full thread aint showing?
messaged VW teeside with this problem and there saying it sounds like a faulty tailgate lock/catch,anymore help before taking the plunge and ordering 1?

ive wd40 the latches and checked the body latch to check if its loose etc but nowt,worked like 20 mins ago now nothing,any help please?
oh and it opens off the key fob when you press the latch in manually

 i can press the boot down forcefully and the car thinks its shut on the dash but the latch just wont hook the body latch???
big road trip this week then inters next weekend with no boot lock,f*cks sake

Guess you got this sorted but I had the same. If you poked a screwdriver into the latch (as if the latch thought it was closing around the pin at the bottom of the boot) did it lock around it? If not then its new latch - I picked one up from a breakers like new for £15 and took about 15 minutes to fit.

yeah sorted with a brand new latch and adjustment of the catch so its solid now
