Electric windows and central locking
« on: June 11, 2017, 04:45:55 pm »
Hi guys as I posted a while back I was having issues with my electric windows. I have since managed to make the passenger front window work and have come to the conclusion the rear window motors are faulty, do these have part numbers or do any mk5 golf gti motors for? My fuel cap button on the drivers door still doesn't work and that's peeing me off a bit. And finally I know have central locking issues. Have to manually lock/unlock the car and sometimes this sets the alarm off. I have had a friend connect a diagnostic machine and the only fault was a blown bulb. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Some of the cables in the drivers door rubber boot (where the door swings open) will be broken, 99% sure it'll be that.

@SI-R32 hi mate. I have already stripped the wiring back and everything is fine. There's no loose wires or splits anywhere. Plus the stealers want £105+vat for a new loom

ok so i have a few questions, when you manually lock and unlock the car does it do all the other locks or just the drivers door?

when the drivers door is closed does the door open symbol show up and similarly when the door is open does it show up.

what age is your car

whats wrong with back windows want more info

does your driver window retain the one touch function or does it loose memory regularly

when you checked the wires in the door rubber did you feel and bend them one by one as the copper could be broken inside the insulation

cheers

@SI-R32

All the doors lock manually but only drivers door unlocks manually

My car is 2007 57plate

The rear windows don't work at all from the drivers door or each individual door

The window retains one touch at all times

I did not bend the wires just checked for loose connections or rips in the wires

just one more thing I should have asked, have you changed anything, worked on anything, had anyone tinkering with the car? especially in the doors?

just in case?

@SI-R32 no mate I brought the car as it is. The day I got it it was raining so didn't check all windows and noticed fuel cap wouldn't open but assumed it was a fuse. That still doesn't open by the way.

@SI-R32 hi mate just a quick one to pick your brain... the rear electric window motor would I need to replace with the exact same part number?
