Speedo help please
« on: June 12, 2017, 12:22:03 pm »
Hi guys.... hoping you can help me... been searching on here and Google etc. but no luck....

I recently swapped in a set of highline clocks... The clocks were out of a UK car and they were in mph - I'm in Ireland and need to run KMH clocks

So I took the KMH dial face from my midline clocks and swapped it over into the UK spec Highline clocks ...

But now my speedometer needle (which is still the UK mph calibrated needle) reads way too low. If you guys have seen a KMH face before you know the KMH dial face has the numbers spread out over a greater radius...

If I am travelling at 60 km/h the indicated speed on the Speedo is just 40 km/h...

Obviously this could be a bit of an issue

The answer is very simple... Your highline clock is coded to the MPH dial it was born with.
To sort this problem you'll either need to buy a new highline instrument with the km/h or recode your current. - The recoding can only be done with someone who knows what they are doing and that is only if they have a coding that will sort you out.

Thank you Christiank - I really appreciate the reply - I will investigate this a bit more now - there's a guy over here (Ireland) who does some of the more complex coding. I'll chat to him. Do you know if it can be done with VSDS? I have VCDS. Otherwise the Irish guy had the abrites system? Is it an abrires only job? Thanks Christian :happy2: don't really want to have to but another set of clocks :ashamed:

The only thing you can code witgh VCDS during a cluster swap is the basic adjustment to the steering angle control settings. You'll first have to pull out immobilizer info from old cluster and the put this to new one. Then there's the milage adjustment that has to be done with something else and then at the last step the basic settings with VCDS :)

Hope you'll get sorted mate :) If you want some cluster porn, then look my build thread for a 3D colour cluster with blue R needles and some other bits. ;)

No it cant be done with VCDS.

If you have white, colour or 3D clocks i can adjust it but not on red display clocks
STAGING/NEEDLE SWEEP ON ALL WHITE CLOCKS
LIT NEEDLESS, MILES TO EMPTY
GENUINE CAN GATEWAY - SUPPLY AND FIT
CRUISE CONTROL -  SUPPLY AND FIT ALL VW's
CLOCKS CODING - VW SEAT SKODA UP TO 2014

Thanks ChristianK. I appreciate the response. Will have a look at your build :happy2:

Thanks Olsen-72. I appreciate the response. I have red clocks so I might be in trouble :ashamed: Is it possible the recalibrate the speedo needle on red clocks?
