I had the same problem, however, after hours of research I decided to leave the resonator in place. Instead I chopped the rear silencer off and replaced with a straight pipe and i couldnt be happier! No drone at all, still sounds stock when driving slowly (the girlfriend test worked, she didnt notice at all!) but also sounds awesome when you put your foot down, and typical dsg blurrrp sounds when shifting!  :happy2:

If I knew I would have done the rear section. I can't justify doing this after having the resonator removed because totalising everything would be almost the price of a reasonable catback. I will be better off saving from now on. In any case, thank you for sharing your experience :)
