Hey.

How much would the car need a alignment after all this is done? Kinda want to get going replacing all the things today, but I have to pick up the wifey later today and that's a 3 hours drive total.

Not sure that's clever to do, if I install all my new parts and the cars haven't any alignment done to the wheels?

You will almost definitely need an alignment. I recently had the superpro arm kit fitted and the toe was visibly out to the naked eye let alone laser gear!

I know it will need an alignment since the new Passat B6 alloy wishbones and the Superpro ALK will do something better.. ;)

Question is just how much, to much to drive for 3 hours straight or?  :driver:

Ive been told alignment is definitely needed but I've also been advised to allow new springs and bushes to settle properly as if you fitted it, got it aligned immediately you might find 500-100 miles down the road it was comepletely out of alignment as everything settled.

Obviously you can repeatedly sort out alignment several times but I fitted coilovers, new arms, superpro bushes, ALK, and ball joints plus a dogbone, new brakes and discs and am waiting to fit ARB front and back. My car has settled noticeably over the last 500 odd miles and handles fine. Ive been keeping a very close eye on tire wear etc to make sure I'm not going to get a nasty surprise and plan to align once ARBs are fitted.

Dunno if this is the wrong way to go about it to save the cost of a cpl of alignments, just what I was advised by a friend.

Aight mate.. Guess I'll just install my stuff hopefully next weekend, that way I can install my new dogbone along with dogbone bushing while I'm at it.

Think I'll go do an alignment after that and then again after everything is settled in after some miles. I don't drive the car daily. So don't want to risk anything with tyres or something else when the miss's is driving to/from work :)

3 hours would kill your tyres and won't do your concentration/anxiety any good either!!

When I did the Passat hubs, passer arms, Passat ball joints etc the aligment was all over the place.  Screeching from the tyres at very slow corners and you could feel and hear the tyres being tortured.  It drove OK in a straight line, but if you hit a drain cover which has no grip compared to tarmac, the toe being so far off would send a violent shock in to the cabin.

So no, I would not recommend driving 3 hours with poor alignment.  You cornering grip is severely compromised and you could have an accident.

Good stuff!  The most I drove mine with bad alignment was about 10 miles....and very slowly  :happy2:
