Hello and Bluefin possible issues
« on: September 08, 2017, 08:14:10 pm »
Hi, Been an observer long enough now.
Great reading and an endless supply of information.
Today I fitted a Bluefin (superchips) map to my mk5 gti DSG 2006. I also fitted a K & N air filter.
The car felt better in all areas but the sadly the diagnostic light has came on.
All feels well and I have not tried to find any fault codes yet.
The car is good mechanical order as it just had a minor service from VW and I supplied and got them to fit a new cam follower for piece of mind.
Can this be a diverter valve issue?
I'm not sure what series I have on the car but obviously planning to fit a G series if it is the DV.
Does anybody have any other ideas?

Cheers

Best to get it scanned and go from there before you start jumping in replacing parts that may not be at fault. I don't think a failed diverted valve will bring on the diagnostic light that's why so many people are oblivious unless they realise the drop in performance. If you do need to replace it I'd thoroughly recommend the GFB DV+ as it's considered more reliable and does seem to improve throttle response judging by my own and others experiences.

Thanks for the reply Octoparrot, I used the the bluefin to read and clear fault P0299 which points to the turbo or diverter valve I believe.
Well the diagnostic light has stayed off so far today.
The car is driving really well, pulling hard in all gearbox modes.
I will just have to drive it for a while and see if it pops up again.

Cheers

That's an underboost code, so yeah, more than likely the diverter valve.  The increased boost pressure from the map has probably split it.  Get a GFB DV+ and move on with life  :happy2:

Good choice on the map.  I was recently chatting to Graeme who works there.  Very knowledgable about these cars and tuning them and doesn't push things too hard.

Thanks Pudding, I will fit the GFB DV diverter valve and move on.
