Brakecaliperrefurbs.co.uk What's the story anyone?
« on: September 19, 2017, 10:09:33 pm »
I've been looking to get my Brembo's refurbed and, having read the 'NQSBBK rears' thread the above seemed like the place. There's a couple of companies on eBay doing a service too but I'd rather go with a recommendation, thus thinking brakecaliperrefurbs.co.uk were the guys as recommended in the thread. But then I go on their Facebook page and some of the reviews are pretty dire. Has anyone any experience of them on here? Have they gone through a change of ownership and quality is suffering? Any further info from personal experience would be appreciated as I don't want my car out of action, on stands, if their work has gone to ratchet.

I've got the Boxster S fronts, looking for refurb in original red and either Porsche logo back on or Brembo instead.

I'd look at BIGG RED. They seem very professional.

BiggRed won't do Brembo's or at least they didn't when I enquired last year. Annoying as it's literally down the road from me :/

@chigmuss

Many moons ago Johnny at Brakecaliperrefurb did a complete Porsche BBK refurb for me inc colour change and also had them ceramic coated, looks amazing and lasted years. Also did my rear S3 Calipers years later so can't recommend them enough. Plenty of pics in my old Edition30 thread (click below my signature).

Not sure if Johnny still does work DaveB (Vagbremtechnic) but if he does, still great work. Others may know if he does or not.

Thanks for the replies folks. I'll maybe try to speak to Jonny just to make sure, seems odd some of the bad feedback they've had.

I went down and met johnny a few months ago, nice chap seems to know his stuff might just be 2 bad reviews in 1000 you cant please everyone and even if you are good sometimes things don't go as well as you planned and you need to be given chance to rectify before people start slating you

I had a set of NQSBBK sent to Johnny a few years ago and it took him 6 months to send me the calipers back. when they came back, they had a chip on the paint, i sent them back and he rectified them and sent them back within a week.

the next set he done was my RS3 fronts which i discussed with him for about 2 weeks and insisted i get a clear time plan as to when i get the calipers back as couldn't wait 6 months again, he explained what the "situation" was last time and i send the calipers to him and the came back within 2 weeks.

also sent a set of mk5 GTI rears and turnaround was a week.

som can see how he can have a mixed bag of reviews from my own experience with him/them.
