Gear needed for removing wheels

Debating on getting stuff for removing the wheels more regularly and having only used the scissor jack and brace from the toolkit in the boot, I'd rather just leave that to the roadside emergency use.....
So I'm thinking trolly jack, wrench/breaker bar and socket. Do I need a torque wrench for tightening or an expensive luxury? Asking about the torque wrench as I tightened the wheel nuts too tightly with the brace.  :signLOL:
Noticed Lidl have and electric thingy bob this Thursday....  :thinking:
Anyhow any advice and links to what's need would be great cheers.  :grin:

Always handy to have your own kit if you are comfortable using it. Can't comment on lidls products. I try to avoid the jacks supplied with cars as they aren't the best. I've got a low level Jack and axle stands and they are well worth having. Again a torque wrench has multiple uses and not just on cars. Good luck

Just to echo the importance of only using the scissor jack - AKA The Widow Maker - for emergencies only!

You can get jack and axle stand kits quite cheaply - as an example:

Cheers, I already have some axle stands. Would I need a low level jack for a un-lowered car or is there enough clearance for a standard jack?
What torque setting for the wheel nuts so I can work out which wrench I need?

machine mart do a torque wrench for around £30 and its a great bit of kit  :happy2:

120NM or approx 85-90Lb ft

1/2" was a few years ago but even i was surprised at the price normally everything is overpriced!

I have a Halfords trolley jack and their axle stands also I also have one of their torque wrenches.  You will be fine with the trolley jack on a un lowered car, but if you do decided to lower your car, like I have, I use some wood from a pallet just to raise the front wheel a little more for me to get the jack underneath.  As for torque setting I was told on here 120nm / 88.5 ft lb.

Good point about using pieces of wood to lift car up a tad.
I've now decided to get the wheels refurbed rather than do a quick patch up here and there so there's not as much of a rush to get the gear but I will in next couple of months.

Lidl's stuff is good, I'd get torque wrench or tool kits from it but I'd invest in high quality jacks or axle stands, it's alright if a socket snaps but not the axle stand  :happy2: sealey do a very good 1.25 tonne jack quite cheap and comes with a rubber lifting pad (Glue it on btw or you'll misplace it)
