Visually my version looks central even though it's not. If you examine the centre strip, whether OEM plastic or OSIR carbon (same shape), I think you'll agree that it's not adaptable because of the shape of its section.

When and where did you get your Evoms cover, Nath? It's a slightly different design to mine and all the others I've seen.

i never noticed it wasnt actually central RR!
greeners- did you test fit ~~yours~~..my one lol.???
ill be tempted to try it like robins and if not cut the underneath of the cenrtre panel to allow the oil cap to sit properly
i keep coming back the pic and saying ooooooh shiny me likey lol

Bought mine from Al last year but never test fitted as I only had it back from the body shop last week and I lost my intake at the end of last year..............

I know that Evoms stopped making their engine covers for a short while and so as both yours and mine bears the raised Evoms logo, showing they are genuine, that either yours (now Matsu's) or mine is the later one. I got mine from GTIjames.

....Are you saying that it doesn't fit or that you're worried that it might not fit?

If the Evoms cover is for the 2.0T FSI engine there'll be two holes on the left which match up to and use the cam cover's T30 bolts and then a single hole with a bigger nut and bolt supplied for the righthand side (see my pics earlier in this thread).

If it's fitting the centre strip you're worried about, there'll be a way to fit it or glue it.

Here we go - A further improvement........

^ The finished job, BIALI-style! For those that don't know, BIALI stands for Bodge It And Leg It.

Or rather I should say "the finished with" OEM centre strip after Dan at BIALI Werks had enthusiastically ~~waved around~~ wielded his dremel and cut out the 'FSI TURBO' lettering for use elsewhere.

^ The cut out badge with edges cleaned up and first coats of silver aluminium paint.

^ The OSIR carbon centre strip cut out to receive the silver badge in exactly the same position as on the OEM strip.

Firstly the cut carbon edges were filed smooth with special tools for carbon and then clear lacquered. It's such attention to detail by Dan that makes a job look professional. I had stuck on my OSIR carbon strip to the black aluminium Evoms engine cover very strongly indeed with lots of Tiger Seal to stop it rattling and so it was far too risky to attempt removing the carbon strip to work on separately. However, our intrepid explorer Dan forged ahead with his trusty dremel.

We decided to allow a small gap around the badge and to fit it flush with the carbon surface so that the whole engine cover looked as if it was originally manufactured with the 'FSI TURBO' badge and so it wouldn't look merely stuck on. Here are some pics of the finished job:

I am extremely pleased with what Dan has done. It was my design idea but Dan has made the engine cover look professionally manufactured as a whole and must take the credit for that. I like it so much that if I ever sell this car, I am keeping the engine cover to display on my a wall at home as a very fond momento.

The standard engine cover is now back on with a Carbonio for a bit of eye candy!

....A bit of paint can transform the somewhat dull silver-grey of the plastic OEM centre strip which looks a bit galvanised imo. Pick any colour............

i like that alot RR!!
yep i got mrG's evoms cover-but not had time patience or motivation to fit or do anything with it yet.
found myself a bit fed up with the car this week,with so many things just not going right and so little cash to get anything done properly first time!!
so i,m gonna take a month off of thinking about it all.
but ill post stuff up as and when i gethm done.

where did you get the blue badge pleeze mate>?

Sorry to hear that, Matsu. Sometimes spending a bit of time to stand back and gather your thoughts can produce better results - And when you've done so and are pleased with such results you then think that it was all meant to be that way.

My blue n white enamelled VW badge was a present from the TTshop when I bought the OSIR strip from them. It's self adhesive.

The original 1930's VW factory brick building at Wolfsburg, rather like Battersea Power Station in style, has a big blue n white badge and it's also used on modern architectural signage:
