MK5 Gti DSG Gear Knob getting tatty and sharp!
« on: July 30, 2018, 12:46:01 pm »
The silver plastic is starting to peel on the top of my gear knob so I contacted VW to ask for the price on a replacement... I nearly fell over when they told me that it is £363.71 for a new gear knob on a 13 year old car!!! If I could afford that kind of silly money for a tiny part, I'd likely not be driving such an old car! :'(

Has anyone else had the same problem? Is there a company that may be able to refurbish the old knob?

All I can think to do is to take some sand paper to it to try and at least make it not sharp anymore as it hurts my hand to use it.

I've tried looking on eBay for replacement knobs but I can't find any and the ones I can see seem to be a different shape... but my car is fairly unique so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that my gear knob looks different to the standard ones for the car/age.
