Candy white GTI, Toronto
« on: September 04, 2018, 02:01:31 pm »
Hi guys,
New to the GTI world, although I have owned a few VWs in the passed (mk2 Golf, mk2 Jetta, Amarok)
I just bought a mk5 GTI DSG and so far I love it.
For an 11yr old car, it's really in excellent condition, but was in need of some detailing.
No service history, so did a full service including the DSG box.

I have some things I want to do:
* Partial "joey mod" (just the stripy silver plate) I believe it's a royal PITA with xenons, but I'm game
* LED DRLs and indicators from http://www.exledshop.com/exled-custom-leds/volkswagen/exled-volkswagen-jetta-5th-golf-5th-front-turn-signal-and-drl-power-led-modules-with-controller-pair-copy.html:
* Edition 30 front spoiler
* rear boot spoiler. Possibly this: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F263226885781
*spray the rear valance and side skirts

*ecu tune

That's it for now.

Adam

Hello heyadamhey,

Nice buy mate! It will look great when the bumpers are colour coded.
I am big on detailing and personally I feel the white makes a huge statement to how much care for the car, it highlights the attention you go to have as it shows the dirt! So when every inch of the car has been cleaned, it looks so smart!

What are you thinking for ECU tune, custom or just a off the shelf flash map?

Thanks Kylo.
Not sure yet about the ECU flash. It'll be an off thr shelf one, but all thr ones Ive seen here in Toronto are around $800 (I think that's abiut £450). That'll have to wait a while though because I've spent about $2500 on the car since I bought it.

I went and splurged a bit on paint for thr valance, sill and joey mod. I was lucky enough to find proper Candy White in a Duplicolor spray can. The gunmetal colour is for the joey mod. I thought it might look a little more classy/factory than black:

I also ordered the DRL/indicator kit from exLED, so I'll be doing that job when they arrive in a couple of weeks
