Going to view an Edition 30 Golf
« on: March 08, 2019, 12:39:33 pm »
Hi All

I am looking at the following ed30:

https://www.gumtree.com/p/volkswagen/vw-golf-gti-edition-30-swap-px/1332514715

Is there anything to look for? the owner has full history with stamps however in the book it doesnt state if timing belt/ chain or clutch/flywheel is done?

Price wise , whats it worth?

is there any else to look out for?

Many thanks in advance

Hi it should have had at least two timing belts and possibly soon be due a third change, check if he or she has any record of the cam follower being changed, as they tend to get over looked and cause significant damage to the camshaft.

The ad states full VW service apart from one that got done at the garage he bought it from, I’d have thought if it’s a genuine full VW service the book will be stamped correctly with all major work being noted at the time of servicing.

I'd be looking at invoices rather than stamps in the book!

Who ever bought that got one severely neglected car.  People who let tyres wear down to the legal limit tells you all you need to know.

For what it's worth, I recently picked up an Manual Edition 30, 76k miles, full service history with 2 cam belts changed, most recently at 59k.

Brand new discs, pads and 4 new tyres all around.

List price 7995, took it home as seen for 7500.

I think the main reason i was tempted as he was willing to do a part ex with my current vehicle however i think i will sell my own car and then search properly.
