I think smiler may be right as I do remember seeing an ED30 with silver headlights on PH.

I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation and nothing sinister!  :happy2:

Im sure there is a simple reason.  Sorry for bringing this up, and yes this has been discussed before and it was on a silver ED30, so perhaps the same vehicle???

this could just be a headlight swap due to owner previous preference?

Possibly or may even come from the factory like it.

Like i said the rest of the bodywork color match is spot on and the panel gaps are tight so doesnt look like its had action. Additionally there's a bit of touchup on a stone chip on the bonnet that looks like its been there some time so dont think its had anything major done on the front end.

My old works focus had a fair bit of front end work done (After an old duffer pulled out infront of me 2 weeks after i got it) You could tell a mile off.

Nearly Clayed the FAST off earlier - caught the corner with the clay bar. I just let it dry then heated it with her hairdrier and it stuck back down ok!

Im quite pleased with the pictures the sun was getting low at the time so the light was good. got a couple more on my flickr.

I remember seeing someone posted this GTi up for sale & was thinking about getting it... i mentioned in the topic about the lights being standard Golf lights...

Be interesting to know why they are different...

But your car looks superb mate... so i wouldnt worry :happy2:

My GTI had grey lights when I bought it, not the standard black ones. As it was a company car previously and no sign of any mods, it was very unlikely the previous owner changed the lights. That leaves 2 options;
1) The lights were fitted wrong at the factory (wouldn't surprise me, knowing VW)
2) Lights were incorrectly replaced after damage (would not surprise me either, knowing leasing companies!)

Joey mod them, like I did:

They're built on a production line so doubtful it's a factory error, more likely a cost cutting repair

I've seen a lot of VW's with very bizzare combinations of specs in my time *, so I would never rule out factory error, but I agree that cost cutting (or simply ignorant) repair is the most likely reason for the lights being wrong.

* For example, my fiance's mk4 has half of the front seats with heating elements (drivers seat back and passenger seat bottom)  :stupid: with no seat heating and there has definately never been any seat repairs or replacements on the car

I'd check to see if it's had xenons out the factory. Previous owner may have flogged um before trading in to get a few quid. Wouldn't suprise me. Could have even px'd with a mate with a TDI or similar.

Think a scan with vag com would show up any errors the car might be throwing up if there not there. On the plus side, if that is correct, you could get xenons installed easy enough!

Nice motor though!  :happy2:
