Which Intake for Edition 30 ?
« on: February 18, 2010, 04:52:58 pm »
Im toying with the idea of fitting an intake to my car which is currently on revo stg 1 software and completely standard hardware.

Looked at the Neuspeed as someone is selling one on here and it  gets some nice reviews.

So basically i am asking will there be a noticable difference on car performance with the Neuspeed intake fitted on stage 1 software or too little a bhp increase to notice anything AND is the Neuspeed a good choice ?

Befoe you buy, how much intake noise are you prepared to live with as all the after market intakes are noisy.
Without traction power is nothing!

Not too bothered about intake suction noise, just looking for a reasonable power gain on top of what i have.  The reason for the intake uprgade for me is about power and the ease of the job to fit it, the noise that comes with it is something i can live with

Having researched them for the last month or so, id say the ITG seems to be the best out there
( not the best looking though)
The forge does well too and looks , Also EVOMs gets good write ups. Personally i would only go for an item with the correct size MAF housing, and ive decided on the ITG due to the power gains, MAF housing, filtration properties also due to the fact a few tuners rave about them and these guys dont have anything to gain by upping another product.

I phoned revo not that long ago to discuse mapping and when i asked which intake they recommended it was ITG, they said the couldnt believe the gains to be had, he said that an ED30 made 44bhp with the intake and was stunned, he said that he wouldnt of believed it if he didnt witness it with his own eyes. :scared:

Cant argue with that

I suggest either the ITG which has exceptional power increases or the Forge Twintake which is also a high performer and is very easy to take on and off.

Check out SteveP's ITG Review and my GTI Twintake review, and also KRL's S3 Twintake Review.

So my car on Revo stg1 with an ITG intake is going to be producing 330 bhp or there abouts or do i need to get stg 2 software to accomodate the intake ?

Sounds like big power gains for the £

I'm not changing from my Twintake but I'd love to see direct comparisons between the ITG and Twintake on the same car. My expectation is that ITG might deliver higher in the numbers game, but.

The 44bhp quoted will most likely be a gain in the mid to high range of the car and not the peak figure. :happy2:

Superchips tend to do the same. They say a max gain of XXbhp at XXXXrpm.

a bit of a cheat in some respects.

If I didn't have the EVOM's on mine (which I am happy with) then I would have probably been tearing my hair out between the Forge Twintake and the ITG.

you will need the cats and downpipe for stage 2 mate,

I dont know what the state of tune the ED30 was in to produce that from the intake but it was dyno tested then the ITG was fitted then re Dynod and it made 44bhp.

It will have unbelievable gains anyway mate, Whenever ive had intakes fitted in the past, ive been happy if it has gained 7bhp but a realistic 25-30 bhp with the potential of 44bhp dependant on the state of tune is out of this world IMO.

The strange thing is that if the ITG made as much as 30 neddies plus on my K03 GTI, I actually wouldn't want it because I'd then have to start considering an aftermarket HPFP etc etc. I was originally going to go for the ITG and have huge respect for their engineer Andy but those last minute foam additions really do look pants IMO [ You've heard me banging on about it all before].

It simply comes down to what you want to achieve and spend.

I cant remember the figure the ITG made on a K03 car exactly im sure it was 24bhp, so not as good as the ko4 but still impressive

....I'm not challenging its properties and the bottom line is that the ITG delivers lots of power. But best I don't start sharing my views yet again about the foam bits atop the battery and fuse box - Surely everyone has heard it all before and anyway it's only my opinion as a designer and not an engineer.

I'm guessing that anyone who has "subaru" in their name is going to be one of the tribe seeking to max their power, so ITG is the current flavour of the month on the basis of what we have had presented to us. That's cool.

How much is the ITG for the KO4 car?
2008 Octavia vRS K04'd , Forge twintercooler, Evoms, Autotech uprated pump, full Milltek exhaust 324bhp on JKM's rollers ;-)
