Oil Cap handle missing
« on: April 07, 2019, 07:00:14 pm »
Hi,

My car was MOT'ed last September 2018 and I went to fill up the windscreen washer and found that the oil cap handle was not there. The top half of it has come away and lost somewhere, the bottom half which screws into the oil hole is there?

I purchased a couple more off Ebay for a couple of quid and the top half of both of these have come away and lost?

Why is this?

1.  You keep buying cheap sh*t quality oil caps (assuming non genuine?)
2. The engine cover is moving around too much causing it to snap off - make sure it is mounted properly on the 4 mounts, then start checking engine mounts for excessive movement

Quite possibly.

I will take a look. I do remember when I first upgraded to this gti from a sh*tty peugeot 306 looking at the cover and thinking oh god, can't be arsed to undo all the screws but it now seems loose after being at various garages.
