Recaro Wingback Seat Covers
« on: May 28, 2019, 09:56:53 pm »
Been offered the opportunity of buying a new GTI embossed leather backrest cover for my recaro wingback seat for £500 (discounted from £680)

Apparently they are now discontinued and it’s a dead stock item

Does this seem a reasonable price for one of these?
Would replace my worn bolster area, so I’m considering it!

Ah ok.
Good to know.
Was that for a single brand new backrest cover?

I’m in two minds of what to do.
I plan to keep these seats for the future, and transplant them in to a mk7 at a later date.

I know people say the GTI seats are harder to come by, so that may go for the covers too?

Yes it was for a brand new original Recaro wingback seat back cover.

I was going to use it myself but realised it would make the seat base look worn. Just be careful if you do buy it that your seat base cover needs to be in perfect condition or it will look odd.

The guy who bought mine already had a new seat base cover waiting to go on.

This is the problem, I don’t!
Although I’m sure I’ve seen one advertised for £300 somewhere recently? Makes an £800 retrim per seat.

Although I’m sure in time it will become more similar.

I had a friend who had his leather ‘detailed’ and it removed a lot of the shine and bought his non wingback leather up to like new

So there always that option?

Looks as though the Volkswagen classic parts store at Wolfsburg has the GTI embossed seat covers in stock for 359 Euros each;

Sadly no seat bases though. Just thought I'd post this up in case it helps someone out!

Thanks for that.

Considerably cheaper than the chap I know from VW, so I’ve ordered one.

I’ll report back when it arrives

Does anyone know where the base covers can be found?

I may take the plunge and try to retrim both seats!
