Flashing PNDRS light
« on: March 09, 2020, 10:27:34 am »
So last month when parked outside the house I've been reversing and then selecting drive (may have still been some subtle movement in the car) the PNDRS light has flashed on the dash. Put the car in park and switched it off. Left it 30 seconds and switched it on and all was clear, no flashing lights. The CEL had not come on.

Driving the car and all is good, in D it shifts through the gears as normal. No clunk's etc. Using the paddles and again no harsh or clunky gear changes.

Not sure if it's related but imagine it's not helped. Last week on the way home from work a delightful badger has decided to step out in front of me. Loud bang and under the car it went. Bumper is in a state and will need to be repaired.

Two days ago, going from park to reverse and then into drive the PNDRS lights started flashing. This time the CEL lights has come on. Again parked the car switched it off and waited. Turned it on and the PNDRS dash lights are fine yet the CEL light is on. Car dives fine, still no clunk's and harsh gear changes.

The car is on 102k and has full history it is due a DSG service which I was intending to so payday this month. Ive been to a local VW indy this morning where I took it for its full service before Christmas and they mentioned it was due the DSG service.

Possible metatronic unit on its way out? Is it worth having it serviced and see how it goes? If the unit is on its way any recommendations as to where to send it to be repaired/Rebuilt?

Any help would be great.

I would get it serviced first

Initial thoughts were to service it, clear the CEL (making a note of the code) and continue to drive it and see if it came up again. However If I had it serviced would they need to drain the oil and/or revisit work they do in the service such as the need to re drain the gear box oil/fluid so to get to the metatronic unit etc which will incur additional parts and labour costs, point is if its all stripped would it make sense just to remove it and send it off to be checked and repaired if necessary for peace of mind
