Shark Fin Aerial
« on: April 28, 2020, 12:12:05 pm »
Afternoon all,

I recently bought a second hand genuine shark fin aerial but it didn't come with the cable attached.

I haven't removed my standard aerial from my car yet but is it possible to just swap the cable over?

I think there may be a circuit board inside the aerial? So the shark fin aerial i just bought doesn't have one and i guess i can't take the circuit board and cable from my existing aerial?

It's a right faff of a job.  After you pull the rear trim off and drop the head liner down enough to get a spanner onto the aerial, you'll then notice the factory aerial harness disappears off to areas that are inaccessible unless you drop the whole head liner down.

Another thing to consider is a shark fin is a big advertisement to thieves that you have a nav unit, which they like to steal and sell on ebay.  You don't need a shark fin for an RNS unit anyway.  The GPS receiver sits under the top HVAC vent. You're better off getting a phone mount and use that for Nav instead. RNS radios are sluggish and the maps are woefully incomplete.

So I bought another shark fin aerial, this time with the cables.

But I have another problem lol So the original aerial only had 1 cable on it with a white connection (6Q0035575A)

And the new shark fin aerial I have has 2 cables, blue and red (6Q0035575B & 6Q0035575C)

These two cables don't plug into the existing white receiver... Is there anyway I can connect them to get my radio to work?

Assume you need something like this:

Dual Fakra Car Radio Antenna Adapter by Keple | Double Fakra Plug Vehicle Aerial Stereo FM Navigation GPS Connector for Car Models https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07HM69YMF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_5MQSEb7MTHMVS

So if i get a Fakra adaptor, does it need to be dual or can I just get an adaptor for fakra B to fakra A?
