Multifunction Steering wheel Help!
« on: January 04, 2009, 09:08:50 pm »
Hi all!
I have just got a bargin off e-bay for my wife's Touran Sport DSG. Link:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=280299304929

My wife's Touran allready has the multifunction wheel and hi-line comp and every other option going on her car but what I really want to know will the DSG paddles on the new wheel work or will I need to get another module to allow them to work?

Cheers John

You might be ok John, if the car is a high spec with a MFSW already it's more likely just a swap and a tweak with the VCDS.

I arranged an outside of e-bay agreement with the seller! sorry!

Just out of interest how much did the brand new one cost you?

Well makes mine a bargin at £110 delivered! Was too cheap to pass up! Does your car have multifunction wheel standard and have you gone for one with the dsg paddles?

The MFSW will normally have a seperate controller inside (behind the airbag)  assuming you also got the airbag then you won't need a new airbag wiring loom, if you didn't then you will!!

It's always a lottery with these wheels as it does depend on the other parts you have such as slip ring and steering controller.  I would suggest you attempt the fit and if it doesn't work then you'll need to buy the slip ring and controller.  Be prepared to add approx £200 to the price of the wheel (VAG RRP's) if you do need them.

If either of you are South then let me know as I have the tools etc to help you out.

Our Touran allready has the MFSW fitted so the original airbag should just slot in place! The only thing i am not sure about is if the paddles will work with the DSG!?

As I said above I think they will.  Coding is simple if you have VCDS.

Is the coding required to get the dsg paddles to work!? I will get Star Performance to code the wheel if needs be as I don't know anyone else up in the scotland who could do it!

It will depend on the current coding of your controller -

If Auto Transmission is enabled then you should be ok.

Thanks for the Info Stu! Hopefully if it does not work then should just be able to enable via vagcom!? I won't get to fit this until march as I am overseas serving in Afghanistan!
